THINGS YOU WILL WANT TO KNOW ABOUT WEDDINGS AT CHURCH OF THE LIGHTED
WINDOW
Your first contact should
be with the church office (818) 790-1185. The suggested time and date is
subject to the church master calendar. When a date is set, an appointment
should be made with the Minister. Following that meeting, an appointment
should be made with the Wedding Hostess.
The Minister of the Church
of the Lighted Window conducts all weddings in the Church and determines
their content. The wedding itself is to be considered a service of public
worship.
The Organist of the Church,
or a substitute designated by the Church, plays for all weddings in which
the organ is used. If additional music is desired (vocal, instrumental),
these arrange- ments are normally handled by the wedding couple. The Organist
is available one hour prior to the wedding for solo accompaniment. If rehearsal
time is required apart from the wedding day, the Organist's fee is $50/hour.
Any floral decorations
are the responsibility of those being married. White aisle runners are
unnecessary and are strongly discouraged. The seating capacity of the Sanctuary
is approximately 250. However, under crowded conditions, as many as 300
can be accommodated.
The services of a photographer
are the responsibility of the wedding couple. Flash equipment may
not be used during the wedding service itself. The photographer must remain
in the rear of the sanctuary or in the balcony throughout the service.
The same regulations apply to video tape cameras and recordings. Pictures
may be taken without restriction prior to the service, or immediately following
the conclusion of the service. The church will be open one and
a half hours prior to the wedding.
The throwing of bird seed
(no rice, please!) is restricted to certain areas of the church grounds.
Church of the Lighted Window
reserves the right to cancel scheduled wedding services when church procedures
and protocol are not observed by the participants.
HOW MUCH WILL A WEDDING COST?
The cost for weddings
accepted at the church is $850.00, which includes the use of the Sanctuary,
dressing rooms, and fees for the Organist, Wedding Hostess, Wedding Host,
and Minister. A
non-refundable deposit of $100.00 must be paid at the time of reservation.
The remainder of the fee must be received by the Church not later than
one month prior to the wedding.
Several candelabras are
available for use during weddings with a nominal charge for the appropriate
candles. Also, special wedding pew candleholders may be rented from the
Church for $5.00 each. Arrangements may be made with the Wedding Hostess.
WHAT
ABOUT THE WEDDING REHEARSAL?
A one-hour rehearsal should
be scheduled on a day prior to the wedding. All members of the wedding
party-including parents, if possible-should be present and prompt. Any
delay in starting the rehearsal will jeopardize the time available. Vocalists
or musicians requiring rehearsal in the sanctuary should schedule this
for a different time.
The marriage license should
be brought to the Church no later than the time of the rehearsal. The wedding
cannot take place without presentation of a marriage license valid in California.
WEDDING
RECEPTIONS
When the schedule of the
Church permits, receptions may be held in the Fellowship Hall. The donation
for the use of this room is $250.00. The $50.00 deposit required to reserve
the room will be returned if the reception is cancelled up to thirty days
in advance. The Church's Gourmet Committee caters all wedding receptions.
Arrangements should be made through the Church office. The charges for
this service depend on the refreshments chosen and the number of guests
to be served. The serving of alcoholic beverages is not permitted at
Church receptions or on the Church campus. Reception charges due the
Church must be paid in full not later than one month before the reception
date.
